Route 66 is one of the most famous roads in America.
It started in Chicago and headed south, through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona before ending in Santa Monica, CA.
In the 50’s, it took vacationers past wonderful roadside attractions and motels that lit the night sky with their neon, but over the next two decades, it would be bypassed by Interstate 40.
In1985, the last stretch of this wonderful road was decertified and “US 66” officially ceased to exist.
But in Albuquerque, we still recognize the Mother Road.
We still photograph along her two lanes, and we still love to “get our kicks on Route 66.”
