Albuquerque Senior Goes Pro

We photograph a lot of high schools seniors in Albuquerque.

Heck, we photograph seniors all over the state of New Mexico and beyond. And because we are New Mexico’s Senior Photographer, we have had the honor of many many smiling faces in front of our cameras. Some of these high school seniors we lose touch with. After all, there is a great big life ahead of those graduating high school and quite often, that life takes them away from New Mexico. And that is as it should be.

But we love it when we get to keep in touch with our former high school seniors; when we learn what they’ve been up to; listen to their growth; get to visit with them. Sometimes, those visits come in the form of a loud “HEY, FRANK!” while in the middle of the mall or out and about in Albuquerque. Other times, parents will take advantage of breaks in their student’s college/work schedule and schedule family portraits when they are back in town.

We wish the best for every senior we photograph, and we photograph some pretty awesome seniors. We share their joy when good things happen.

And oh boy, did some good things happen for Jacob Kmatz.

See, it wasn’t long ago that Jacob Kmatz stood on the pitcher’s mound for Sandia High School before attending Oregon State.

This former Matador is a 2024 All-American by the NCBWA and All-Pac-12 First-Teamer after going 7-3 with a 3.38 ERA in 88 innings. Jacob led the Beavers with 96 strikeouts and was named the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week three times.

And now, this amazing athlete has been selected in the 5th round by the Tampa Bay Rays.
THE TAMPA BAY RAYS, PEOPLE!

We had absolutely nothing to do with this, but man, are we proud!

Well done, Jacob! Well done, Jacob’s mom and dad! And what a great choice, Tampa Bay!
