Winter is the time the Earth hunkers down for a nice long sleep. The trees are bare; the grass has withered; the colors of nature have faded, all waiting to make an appearance again in the Spring. It’s a well deserved break after the incredible colors of Fall. I mean, after painting with all that red and yellow in October, Mother Nature has got to be tired.
So, during the New Mexico winter months, like every part of the year, we search for color. We photograph a lot outdoors and color is always a big part of what we look for. It’s there, of course-it’s always there.…you just need to know where to look. After all, most places around the state don’t stay beautiful year round.
Thankfully, White Sands isn’t “most places.”
That’s why from now until the end of March, you’ll find us “in the sands.” We’ll be taking nothing but photographs and leaving nothing but footprints. (Well, except for the sand that ALWAYS finds its way in our shoes, on our clothes, in the car and occasionally in our hair.)
We’ll be respectfully climbing on the dunes with clients, camera in hand, squeezing every last bit of color from the sand and sky, doing what we love in a place that stays beautiful in all seasons. Not just beautiful but almost magical.
Yeah, I said it…”magical.”
